I called the lodge a few days before my trip to ask to room nearby a friend and they did give us the room right next to hers. Staff was ample, friendly, helpful, and respectful. It was hoppin, but it wasn't too crowded. Water park: in winter time, the outdoor areas are closed, making it just the right size for our family to stay occupied and happy for 2 days without stressing me out about losing kids anywhere. A couple families were talking about this. My baby could have fit under there and fallen into the lobby or gotten stuck. Safety hazard: the log railing upstairs near elevators was totally not up to safety code I don't know how they're getting away with that. Shower was like a pool shower, harsh pressure and narrow cone. They did have a meal package when we went that included a large pizza and pitcher of pop one day for lunch and a free breakfast buffet the next morning.Room: clean and ample space for our family. Great Wolf is nice for a small weekend trip but by comparison it is not my favorite. However, there is no outdoor waterpark here. The lazy river is very nice and there were many things to do. Key Lime Cove is smaller than Wilderness but still has the waterpark under one roof like Great Wolf.
The full kitchen made that very easy and there were two bedrooms that shared a bathroom and a pull out couch for the kids. My couponer self kicked in and wanted to be able to make many of our meals instead of eating out a lot. Wilderness is huge and like Jill said you have to walk to the three different indoor parks as they are all in different buildings. They do have MagicQuest if your kids are old enough to do that.
If you are a lazy river fan though this is NOT the place for you. We didn’t go out there much because it was kind of cold during our trip there. There is also a waterpark outside that isn’t huge but nice. There are 3 seperate waterpark areas inside that are all under one roof. Great Wolf was our first waterpark in the dells.
